May Newsletter from MacGregor Industries (UK) features updates on leading edge R/C modelling products

Logo for MacGregor Industries Ltd If you've been a modeller for as long as me the MacGregor name will be quite familiar to you - if not, read on

JR Mercury 14 channel transmitterMacGregor Industries Ltd predates my own long history of modelling by about 4 years, so it's one of those names that has been synonymous with modelling and Radio Control for a long time. Most modellers in the UK will have at least one item from the MacGregor range and the current firm comprises three divisions, the Plastic Engineering Division, Radio Control Division and Hobbyplastic Division.

We wrote about JR's COLT (Classic Old Look Transmitter) some time back and top of the features in Macgregor's May Newsletter is the 14 channel version, the Mercury. While it has all the usual switches and controls you'd expect from a 14 channel unit it looks more like a MacGregor radio of olden days, a pleasant reminder to many I'm sure.

The Mercury utilises JR's latest 14-channel computer programming, high precision gimbals and uses the latest DMSS 2.4GHz modulation. The Newsletter also covers several new JR servos and a range of KST Digital servos.

A fan of large models? Then the Pilot-RC range will get you interested - from the 35% scale Edge 540 at 107" (2.7M) span and using a 120cc motor - weight 31,9 pounds (14,5Kg) - to the Gulfstream G650 jet at 97" (2.65M) span and 37.2 pounds (nearly 17Kg). You'll also need 2x 6Kg turbines to power this impressive model. The latest batch of Pilot-Rc kits are due in the UK in June,

107" Edge 540 and Gulfstream G650 from MacGregor Industries

Also in the newsletter- the Flex Innovations range of electronics, which includes an 80W charger, brushless motors and ESCs, propellers and adapters. And due in June is a shipment of Maxford USA scale ARF kits, shown below from L to R are the PT-17 Stearman (50", electric), the 1/6 Airco DH.2 (also 50", electric) and the Gee Bee Model E (electric) at 59" span.
